Road Trip!

William got to go on his first big road trip, visit the beach, and meet a lot of important people! We left Pendleton on Monday, February 11 around 9 AM. On our way to Lincoln City, we stopped in The Dalles where he met Great Grandma Bev and Uncle Bill (oh, and Sharyn Smith, his baby sitter, too!). We then headed to Portland where we had dinner with Great Grandma and Grandpa Cain. After dinner, we  drove to Lincoln City for his first stay at the beach. We arrived that night around 11 PM, so Will and I went to bed while Thomas took Ginger out for her promised beach run.

On Tuesday morning, Uncle David met us at the beach and William got to breathe in his first breath of salty ocean air. He slept the entire time in his Ergo and kept me really warm on the windy beach. We drove down Highway 101 on Wednesday on our way to Drain. We stopped in Newport, Waldport, and Florence. We actually got a little sun in Florence and took William out to enjoy a few rays of sun on the beach.

We arrived in Drain on February 13 in the evening and Will got to meet everyone that had been waiting so patiently to meet him in person-- Great-Great Grandma Dee, Great Grandma Hess, Aunt Candi, Uncle Tanner, Aunt Alley, and Uncle Andrew. While we were in town he also got to meet many other family members. Of course, Grandma Jocelyn, Aunt Hannah, and Aunt Jessica also got to have more snuggle time with the little mister!

On our way back home on February 19, we stopped at WOU and got to show Will off in the science, humanities, and education departments. It was good to see everyone and share William with them.

We had a great trip and William was the perfect traveler. We can't wait for many more road trips and many more trips to the beach! Ok, ok...I know...enough of the jabber. Here are the pictures.

One Month!

This day one month ago we became a family of three (well four if you count Ginger...she IS practically a human member of the family). This morning I woke up and all I could do was look at William and cry. Tears of complete happiness and joy flooded my eyes and I could not get them to stop (oh shoot, here I go again). This past month there have been so many days like this. I just can't seem to hold the happiness tears back. I'm sure my crazy hormones are what's causing it--or at least that's what I'm telling myself.  Honestly though, I can't even describe the feelings and emotions of becoming a mother. This past month has been one of the greatest of my life and I am looking forward to many more months of laughter, tears, late night feedings, diaper changes, singing, rocking, and snuggling. I feel so lucky and blessed.

Enough about me though-- I know you all come here for pictures of William. So here you go--his one month birthday pictures. Of course, Ginger had to sneak into a few of them.

Four Weeks

It's hard to believe that it was four weeks ago that Thomas and I got to hold William in our arms for the first time. This weekend he will be a month old and we are already wishing time would slow down. He is such a great baby and we have been spending our days doing lots of snuggling (and feeding, and diaper changes, and laundry too!). We feel so blessed to have such a great little boy to love.

Will is starting to be awake a little more throughout the day and it's fun to interact with him. However, I still love just staring at him while he sleeps. There is just something about how peaceful he is when he sleeps. I honestly can spend hours staring at him and not even realize how much time has passed. Here are some pictures of him from one such staring session-- oh, and one of Ginger too (we wouldn't want her getting a complex about her little brother getting his picture taken over her).
